The FIA Smart Cities initiative brings expertise gained in the motorsports as well as knowledge in the field of mobility to the cities that are committed to promote sustainable transport solutions.
The FIA Smart Cities builds on the Formula E Championship, where electricity-powered cars race in the heart of cities around the world.
It’s a unique environment to showcase the role of innovations in transforming urban mobility and represents an excellent opportunity to make city authorities meet mobility stakeholders and industry players and seek for efficient urban mobility solutions together.
On Friday 9 June, the day before the Berlin Formula E race, the European stage of the FIA Smart Cities Forum will take place, around the topic of “New directions in Urban Mobility”. In the morning speakers from different sectors will come together to discuss strategies to enhance new mobility services in cities, while in the afternoon there will be the opportunities to experience some of the innovations piloted in Formula E championship, including Formula E shakedown on the track. During the day the FIA will promote the FIA Smart Cities Startup global contest, with the aim of to identify, support and invest in the most successful startups empowering Smart Cities and improving Road Safety.
